Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage is an Ayurvedic form of healing and relaxation widely used in the eastern cultures. It is also known as 'Champissage' which means an alternative medicine massage therapy where the neck, shoulders, facial areas are massaged with the purpose of manipulating energy channels to clear blocks that have been built up limiting energy patterns
How Does Indian Head Massage Work?
The treatment involves massage, shiatsu and acupressure techniques on the upper back, shoulders, arm, scalp and face. This relaxes tension and at the same time helps to rebalance the bodies energy system. This provides increased circulation oxygen and nutrients to the area, coupled with the simulation of hair growth and to revitalise the brain.
Afterwards you may feel relaxed, have better concentration and feel that you are back in balance. It may help muscle tone, lymph drainage, relaxation, eye strain, headaches, sinusitis, and insomnia.
You remain seated and the massage is done over your clothes. All you need to do is to sit and relax.
The Head Massage can be done with Indian oils such as jasmine or mustard oil, or with a base oil such as grape seed. The oils are very nourishing for the hair. A male client would remove his shirt or tee-shirt; a female client would be given a sarong to wear. It is a good idea to then wrap up your hair overnight and then wash it in the morning.
