BSc (Hons) PGCEDip CNM, mBANT, CNHC reg
I graduated from the College of Naturopathic Medicine after three years of intensive study and clinical experience. CNM is one of the UK’s largest and well-respected natural-medicine training providers and I continue to work with the college as an Assistant clinical Supervisor supporting final year nutrition students with their clinical experience.
Prior to becoming a Nutritional Therapist I taught in Secondary Schools for 12 years and then ran an alternative education provision for three years supporting young people to re-engage with learning and life again. Teaching yoga in the community and working with young people helped me to realise my life’s passion -to educate and support people to develop a healthier relationship with their bodies, with themselves and their lives.
I believe that what we eat makes a difference to how we feel and how well we are able to function in life. I believe in us working together to find out what works for you as an individual and not using a ‘one size fits-all’ diet or regime. People are unique, with complex histories meaning that they need individualised approaches to support their health. I also believe passionately in education – having a greater understanding of what is in our food, how it is grown, produced and processed. I believe that if we can’t pronounce the words on the ingredients labels then we shouldn’t be eating it!
Alongside my clinical practice, I work with a variety of people in the community under ‘The Healthy Eating Project’ (email@example.com) where we hold free healthy eating mornings, where we talk about food, cook and eat together. I also give talks to local groups who are interested in nutrition and well-being.
I teach yoga at the PinnacleClimbing centre and also to community groups, sharing my experience of how our bodies, our minds and our breath can influence how we feel, move and live. I also love to grow my own organic vegetables, keep chickens (Buffy, Freckles, Red and Cou Cou) and play the Gong for relaxation and rejuvenation.
I am passionate about continuing to learn in this ever expanding field and I keep up to date with current research by attending seminars and webinars. I am a full member of BANT (British Association of Nutritional Therapy) and am registered with CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council).
